How it works

A lot of people who reach out have never told anyone they needed this. That is fine. This page covers exactly what happens in a session, how screening works, who this is for, and what the boundaries are.

What professional cuddling is

It is paid, structured, consensual physical closeness. Think of it as skilled human contact: the kind that gives your nervous system a chance to settle, signals safety, and fills a gap that many people simply do not have access to.

Sessions are platonic, meaning no sexual contact, no nudity, no kissing, no romantic dimension of any kind. What you get is intentional physical closeness: holding, being held, lying quietly next to someone who is fully present with you. That is what this is.

This is not therapy, not massage, and not companionship in a social sense. It is touch, agreed on in advance, with a practitioner trained in consent practices and trauma-informed care. One practitioner, one client, full accountability on both sides.

The process, step by step

Before your session

1

Fill out the intake form

A short screening form on the booking page. Takes about two minutes. It covers your contact details, what kind of session you are looking for, and your comfort level with touch.

2

I review and reach out

I read your form and follow up within 24 hours. If there are any questions on either side, we handle them before committing to a time.

3

A short pre-session exchange

We exchange a few messages. You can ask anything. No question is off-limits and nothing obligates you to book. The goal is that you arrive knowing exactly what to expect.

4

We set a time and location

Once we confirm the details, I send a booking confirmation. For in-home and hotel sessions, I come to you. Virtual sessions run over a private video call.

During your session

1

Arrival and a few minutes to settle

I arrive, or you join the video call. We spend a few minutes talking so the space feels comfortable. There is no rush to start anything.

2

The consent check

We go through the menu together. Each type of touch is described, and you say yes, maybe, or no. Nothing happens that we have not both agreed to. You can change your mind at any point and the agreement updates immediately.

3

The session

We settle into whatever feels right for that day. Sitting side by side, lying quietly, or talking while holding hands. Some people prefer silence. Some want to talk. Both are fine. The pace is entirely yours.

4

Closing gently

Sessions end with enough time to transition. We do a brief check-in before I leave. No rush, no abrupt ending.

After your session

1

A follow-up from me

I check in by message within a day. If you have feedback or want to adjust anything for a future session, that is the moment.

2

Booking again

If you want a repeat session, reply to my follow-up or book directly on the site. Returning clients do not need to repeat the intake form.

Screening: why it exists and what it covers

Both sides benefit from screening. You get to know who you are meeting before you open your door. I get enough context to prepare the right session for you.

What the intake form asks for: your name, contact information, what kind of session you want, and your comfort level with touch. There is an optional field for anything health- or safety-related I should know about. That is it.

Your information is reviewed by me and not shared. I use it to confirm we are a good fit and to prepare. I reserve the right to decline a session request, and I will tell you plainly if I do, along with whether a referral might be a better match.

You are also welcome to screen me. Ask for my credentials, request a video call before committing, or look me up. I operate under my real name with a consistent online presence. Mutual safety is the baseline.

Who this is for

  • People who feel touch-deprived or isolated

Single, recently single, or simply without regular physical closeness in your life. Touch deprivation is documented, real, and has measurable effects on mental and physical health.

  • People working through grief, illness, or a difficult season

Sometimes what you need is to be held, quietly, without having to explain yourself or perform okayness.

  • People with anxiety, autism, or sensory sensitivities

Touch in unstructured social settings can feel overwhelming. A calm, predictable, fully consensual session is a different experience entirely.

  • Trauma survivors rebuilding comfort with touch

The full consent process and the ability to stop or adjust at any point make this a controlled environment for rebuilding a felt sense of safety.

  • People in therapy who want somatic support alongside talk therapy

A number of therapists in the Phoenix metro area refer clients for platonic touch work as a complement to what they are doing in sessions. If you are a therapist, contact me directly at hi@cuddletherapyaz.com.

Who this is not for

Professional cuddling is a specific service. It does the most good for people who understand what it is and are looking for exactly that.

  • Anyone seeking sexual contact. This is not available here. A session ends immediately if any attempt is made, and the person is not eligible for future bookings.

  • Anyone in acute mental health crisis. Please contact a crisis line (988 Lifeline: call or text 988) or a licensed therapist first. A cuddling session is not a substitute for clinical care, and I will say so directly rather than take a booking that is not the right fit.

  • Anyone who misrepresents themselves on the intake form. I rely on accurate information to screen for mutual safety. Dishonesty on the form disqualifies the request.

Boundaries in practice

The consent menu is the working agreement for the session. Either party can update it at any point with no explanation required. "Actually, not that" is a complete sentence and is always respected immediately.

Either of us can end the session at any time for any reason. You never owe an explanation. Your comfort is the point.

I carry my phone and check in with a contact before every in-home visit. If a client crosses an agreed boundary, I leave. That is how the profession works, and it is not a threat: it is the mutual safety agreement applied.

Full clothing is worn throughout. There is no nudity at any point in any session format.
